Located right on the harbour front in Gimli, Manitoba.  This would be a multi-use facility and would provide areas for business, government, arts and recreation. The main level of the building would contain sub-leasable areas.  The second level would be have a multi purpose hall, complete fitness centre, café / restaurant and additional leasable areas.

 

Primary tenants for the facility would include:

• Harbour Masters office

• Coast Guard & Rescue

• Water Stewardship Office

• Manitoba Conservation Office

• The Gimli Yacht Club

• The Gimli Art Club

• Café

• Restaurant

 

Almost all of tenants would be long term renters, that will be able to cover any costs shortfalls that may be incurred by the multi use hall, during it’s initial start up years.  On the lower ‘Ground level’ there would be approximately 10,000 Sq. Ft of space.  All of these rental units would have full views of Lake Winnipeg.

 

The “Westshore Centre” would be a net revenue maker for the RM of Gimli, from it’s opening day.  There would be no need for any town funds to keep the facility running. It would employ full time and part time personal on a long term basis.

 

FACILITY OUTLINE (edited version)

 

• Multi-use Hall

This room would have seating for up to 700-900 people, on a three tiered floor area, for better unobstructed viewing of the stage.  There is a fully equipped raised stage, with P.A. lighting and video systems.  The floor area can be configured to either a concert style, - “row seating”, or event style - “round table” set-up.  Backstage there are proper private dressing rooms & washrooms for the performers or presenters.

 

  • The hall would have a full length balcony overlooking the harbour and Lake Winnipeg.

  • A fully equipped kitchen facility, bar and coat check room.

 

• Wellness Centre

  • A fully equipped fitness centre and health office areas.

 

• Second floor common area

The centre atrium would provide a permanent home for the 'Gimli Art Archive' and rotating artworks or exhibits relating to the Interlake area.  At the eastern end of the atrium hall there would be a lunch/snack café with tables overlooking the lake.  A real gas fireplace, would add to the ambience during the winter months.
